Women who read out loud rework the landscape of poetry. In September, four poets with strong opinions filled up the backyard of Unnameable Books with an abundance of good words and insight.

Joan Larkin, Emily Wallis-Hughes, and Jiwon Choi all read new work from manuscripts in progress, while Caroline Hagood read from her upcoming book, Weird Girls: Writing the Art Monster.

Here are writers who offer an eclectic vision of experience and point of view, with a through line of intense self-awareness, much like turning over rocks to confront whatever is lurking underneath. But don’t look away because this is where we will most likely find our true selves.
