Born in Wisconsin, Jacqueline Lyons graduated from Colorado State University with an MFA in Creative Writing. She is now at the University of Utah, completing a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing. The Way They Say Yes Here is her first collection, the contents of which came largely from her experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Lesotho, Southern Africa, where she spent three years. Her poems and essays have appeared in Calyx, Hanging Loose, Puerto del Sol, The Beloit Poetry Journal, Phoebe, Florida Review and other publications.

From loose pages to issue 119 of our magazine, an anthology of over 100 HLP poets, over a decade of the Loose Award for translated works, the Founders prize for first book in its third year, and a bunch of great books in the works, we couldn’t have come this far without you.
